For Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2010, Bluewater Comics published an Olivia Newton-John biography comic in their Female Force series, highlighting not only Olivia’s musical and acting career but also her battle with breast cancer and her advocacy for finding a cure and helping other breast cancer survivors. A percentage of the proceeds for the issue went to The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Australia.

In 2006, Oliva partnered with Walgreens to release a breast self-exam kit that stressed the importance of starting self-exams at 20 and performing exams monthly for early detection of cancer.

Lita Ford "Out for Blood" album cover

Her first solo album, Out for Blood, was released in May 1983. True to her metal self, the original album cover was Lita standing in front of a metal chain spider web holding a guitar squirting blood. The album cover was changed by her record label to a less controversial cover that just featured Lita with her guitar so that retailers such as Walmart would carry the album.

Ladies of the 80's Dolls

In 2009, Mattel honored three women who have made a significant impact in pop and rock history with the “Ladies of the 80s” series, featuring dolls of Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper, and Debbie Harry. Each doll is inspired by a classic album cover by each artist: Jett’s doll by the cover of Album, Lauper’s by the cover of She’s So Unusual, and Harry’s by the cover of Plastic Letters. Joan Jett’s doll even holds a miniature version of her signature Epiphone guitar.

Bad Animals by Heart

Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart heavily influenced rock n’ roll through the 1970s and 1980s. Bad Animals was released in 1987 by Capitol Records. It sold 3 million copies by 1992 and featured the hit single “Alone” which spent 3 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Charts. This copy, autographed by Ann and Nancy, was owned by Joe Matuscak, who was a sales executive for Capitol Records for almost two decades in Los Angeles and Denver.
